About Psychosexual Therapy (PST). COSRT Accred

Psychosexual Therapy

Once any medical aspects that may be contributing to the problem are ruled out by the GP, psychosexual therapy then explores psychologically and behaviourally what is going on for the clients.
After a thorough assessment a bespoke treatment plan is recommended, tailored to the clients needs, to produce the most appropriate results. Much of the work is educative. The sexual anatomy and sexual response cycle are discussed, unrealistic expectations, mistaken attitudes and performance anxieties are addressed.
Exercises are tailored to the clients needs to do in the privacy of their own homes. No sexual tasks are carried out in the consulting room.

What Conditions Can it Help?
Sexual problems can be experienced by men and women of any age and any orientation.
Common problems can include:

  • loss of interest in sex (disorder of desire)
  • erectile dysfunction
  • premature ejaculation
  • difficulty in obtaining orgasm
  • Dyspareunia (pain during sexual activities, not just on penetration)
  • vaginismus (inability to penetrate sexually)
  • Orgasmic difficulties (inability or delayed)
  • Sexual addiction
  • Dissociation
  • Menopause
  • Post natal depression

    What Benefits can be Expected?
Sex is an important aspect of an adult's life and the lack of intimacy that can result from a sexual dysfunction, or literally getting out of the habit, does create frustration and sadness for many.
There are never any guarantees to this process but my intention is to always endeavour to get the best results possible for my clients
Success rates currently stand with IAPT 50% and NHS 49% nationally. With my rate standing at 95%, attention to detail from an individual's perspective is key.

  • There is a gap in the NHS for teenagers presenting with PST and I am happy to resolve any sexual issues with them
